SUMMARY
Manage and coordinate activities of employees in the Project
Engineering department in the areas of staffing, resource
requirements, documentation, productivity, quality, safety, and
training. Responsible for designing products from initial planning
stages to product release, and ensure proper documentation is provided
in accordance with quality standards (AAMI specifications, ISO 13485,
FDA Title 21 CFR Parts 11, 211, and 820, etc.). Some travel may be required.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Designs product from initial planning stages to product release,
and insure proper documentation is provided in accordance with
quality standards (AAMI specifications, ISO-13485 FDA design
controls or similar regulatory, etc.)
- Prepares and presents design documentation for new and equivalent products.
- Provides leadership and guidance for non-routine problems
requiring substantial judgment in the independent evaluation,
selection, and adaptation of standard engineering techniques,
procedures and criteria.
- Interacts with customers and vendors on product-specific issues
that relate to design, production, lead times, delivery, etc.
- Manages all aspects of product structure, including all
corresponding Engineering documentation, data entry, labeling,
packaging, etc.
- Material selection.
- Provides basic quoting and quoting support.
- Designs, develops, and improves new or existing products and
directs the building and testing of prototypes to completion.
- Manages and assigns engineering projects in accordance with
customer specifications and within scheduling and budget limitations.
- Coordinates with internal departments and functions to ensure a
producible design.
- Works on continuous improvement in the areas of product design and
manufacturing methods.
- Ensures necessary engineering documentation with correct
specifications is provided in a timely manner for all components,
assemblies, finished products and design projects.
- Ensures engineering review and approval is completed for purchase
orders and that specifications and descriptions listed are correct.
- Ensures engineering review of customer orders is completed prior
to processing, and correct documentation is provided.
- Ensures documentation meets all regulatory and quality
specifications and requirements.
- Provides technical guidance and ensure sound engineering
procedures are followed.
- Works on new designs and improvements to existing designs in a
continuing effort to meet our customers’ needs and remain
competitive in the industry.
- Builds relationships with Katecho’s customers not only profitable
for the company terms of the product sold, but also rewarding to the
customer in terms of the quality of the product purchased. Performs
research and provides analysis related to potential business
opportunities for the company. Interfaces with our existing
customers, and actively interfaces with potential customers with the
objective of developing new product lines and expanding existing
product lines.
- Works with the Head of Engineering on directing the quoting for
all products of Katecho. Develops strategies for pricing products
in continuing efforts to meet our customers’ needs and remain
competitive in the industry. Ensures Katecho’s products are priced
to accurately reflect raw material costs, labor costs, and overhead.
- Manages the Project Engineering personnel in the following areas
(working with Human Resources):
- Staffing
- Development and training
- Rewarding, reviewing, and disciplining
- Communicates and work together with other management and
departments at Katecho to maintain and improve the overall direction
of the company.
- Work with the customers to resolve issues involved in the design
of the product.
- Work on new designs and improvements to existing designs in a
continuing effort to meet our customers’ needs and remain
competitive in the industry.
SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serves on internal committees and boards (i.e. Staff Meeting,
Management Review, Material Review, etc.)
- Other duties and functions may be assigned as required.
AUTHORITY
- To determine and request necessary resources (personnel,
equipment, supplies, etc.) to effectively run the Project
Engineering department.
- To hire, reward, review, discipline, and terminate personnel in
the according to company policy and applicable legal requirements.
- To direct the product design functions of Katecho, including, but
not limited to, the organization and scheduling of the department.
- To work together with other members of the management team to
manage the overall direction of Katecho.
- To review and approve necessary engineering documentation and
specifications to meet all aspects of the requirements listed under
"Primary Duties and Responsibilities" above.
- Must complete a Non-Compete Agreement and Patent Agreement.
