Job Description:
SUMMARY
This position must be able to lead, direct and train a team of production employees to complete work according to specific instructions. Responsible for testing equipment, product, inspecting materials, work in process, final product, and accurately recording the findings according to procedures, instructions, engineering drawings, and training. Must evaluate rejects and product defects and make decisions regarding the status of the product based on the inspection criteria.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Leads a team of people by example in the areas of attitude, work
quality, work ethic, dependability, and communication.
2. Leads
employees and provide direction to complete required inspection and/or
testing operations.
* Follows applicable procedures, instruments,
engineering drawings, and training.
* Trains employees according
to departmental training requirements.
* Monitors employees in
their jobs and assists as necessary.
* Answers employee
questions involved with the inspection and/or testing process.
3. Interfaces with supervision and/or management to ensure
quality rejects and/or problems are brought to the attention of
responsible personnel. This may include interfacing with employees in
other departments.
4. Tests and/or inspects the quality of the
raw materials and work in process in a timely manner according to
established written Quality Department procedures, engineering
drawings, and documentation. This includes critical inspection items
that may affect the function of the product.
5. Works as an
effective member of the team.
6. Identifies non-conforming
product, as necessary.
7. Completes all documents and records
required.
8. Fills-in and work as an effective member of the team
as an Inspector or Lab Technician
9. Keeps work areas clean,
organized and well maintained.
10. Regular and reliable
attendance is an essential function of this job. Punctuality and
regular attendance are crucial for efficient plant operations, safety,
and morale.
11. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned
as required.
Experience and Skills:
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Able to
correctly inspect and test product according to instructions,
engineering drawings, and training.
3. Able to correctly use
required tools, fixtures, rulers, testing equipment, etc. involved in
the testing and inspection processes.
4. Able to read and
understand the product criteria on engineering drawings.
5. Able
to recognize quality problems with equipment, materials, work in
process, and final product, and to inspect for critical items that may
affect the function of the product.
6. Able to inspect product
and perform all other required duties in a timely manner as outlined
by department supervision and management.
7. Able to lead and
influence others by example in the areas of attitude, work quality,
work ethic, dependability, and communication.
8. Able to direct
and train employees.
9. Able to work and communicate well with
others.
10. Able to supervise multiple inspections and/or testing
jobs simultaneously.
11. Able to complete necessary documents and
records as required.
12. Able to read and write English.
13.
Good work attendance and dependability.
14. Must be able to work
with minimal supervision.
15. Must be able to pass a background
check.
16. Must be able to complete a position assessment test.

A Quality Lead assigned to the Receiving Inspection area must frequently lift and/or exert force from 25 up to 75 pounds. Push and/or pull up to 300 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
May either sit at a workstation to inspect product, or may be required to move around while inspecting (i.e. incoming inspection, shipping, etc.)
